It's said that if you want something wholeheartedly, the universe conspires to bring it to you.' Rahul, a fresh graduate with simple dreams and an uncluttered outlook towards life, falls in love with a confident, sassy, helpful, sweet yet materialistic girl, Shreya, who shares the workspace with him. For Shreya, looks are a priority and everything else comes later. For Rahul, looks are secondary, what matters is the soul of a person. With his boy-next-door looks, he does not stand a chance with Shreya and he knows that. But he is still confident he would be able to win her love, because he firmly believes in himself and the universe. This book follows Rahul's sacrificial and emotional voyage to win Shreya's love. Will Shreya ever realise the enormous amount of unconditional love blossoming inside Rahul?
Will love eventually find its destiny?Sometimes, the universe may not pay heed to your desires, sometimes, it just may.Set in the backdrop of a corporate set-up, the story swiftly explores different human emotions such as love, pain, loneliness, betrayal, friendship, etc., somewhere buried deep within all of us.If you ever fell in Love, this book is for you all; dedicated to the purest thing in the world called 'Love'. Really bad experience.I had finished some great books in recent months (Shiva Trilogy, The Pilgrimage, Without Fear) and I had good expectation with this book also. The rating on Flipkart made me go for this and I really doubt now whether the rating was for Flipkart service or for the book. This book is worse than some typical Hindi movie script. In the entire book, he was a complete looser. Yes, he was in love or not that is a different case but weeping on such small incidents is really pathetic. Believe me even girls don't cry in such stupid way.The worst thing was his 'love first' statement. Love meant more to him than blood. This line was when he choose to go with his lady love on shopping instead of taking her sister to a doctor. In which world the author lives.
In another incident he went to help his lady love to help her in making arrangement for a small party in her house and guess what, he was in the middle of his cousin brother's marriage. Author needs to watch the movie Pyaar Ka Punchanama with his eyes and ears open.
'I am not too much into fiction. However I liked this book a lot and it does not bore you like most other love stories. Nuances of human emotion are captured very well and attention to detail is praiseworthy, at times even mind-boggling. I recommend it to everyone who has about 2-3 hours of leisure time and is unsure about what to do.' - Kumar DiweshAwesome, Awesome and Awesome'If you ever fell in love with a girl whom you were sure would never reciprocate same feelings, this book is for you! Kunal Bhardwaj's debut novel 'Love was never mine' is an emotional story about Rahul (no, not the TMD kind), your simple 'guy-next-door' types and his unconditional love for Shreya, the beautiful girl from his office. The book starts on a promising note with an interesting prologue and as we turn the pages we see Rahul falling for Shreya when he sees her for the first time in their training program on their new job.
As fate would have it, Rahul, who is too shy around girls and does not appreciate outer beauty (though he believes in love at first sight), is introduced to Shreya by his friend, Riya. And from then on the three along with Hari, Rahul's pornstruck friend and roommate have fun in office and outside its four walls.Shreya starts asking for Rahul's help whenever she is in trouble and even though she has a boyfriend, Rahul never gives up on her.
He believes in the universe and his love for Shreya. And the universe in turn does not disappoint him, some welcome coincidences and twists of fate ensure that support.
Rahul continues going out of his way to help her, take care of her and do all the small little things that people do in love. Ultimately however, Rahul's love stays just a one-sided affair even after he ends up confessing his feelings via an e-mail to Shreya. Anything ahead of here will give away the 'real' story and hence I would not venture further. That's the issue! The story was written with only the ending in mind and you can literally feel it as the author makes his way towards the ending, creating and birthing events that have pretty much the same flavor (office, love, heartbreak). Another aspect was that the shift in the POV was irritating, especially initially. I would have much rather preferred the author sticking to the protagonist (Rahul's) POV and not venturing much into Shreya's mind. The shift in tense was another issue in the initial chapters but it might have been an editorial mistake, I am not sure. Now the real judgment.
This book is not a story, though it might come across as one. It is more like a collection of events bound together by fate and their subsequent outcome. The main focus of this story is on 'feelings' and the emotional turmoil the protagonist goes through.
The events composed though repetitive are cute, coming from a character who has never been in love before (reminded me of my Rahul from TMD). The ending is surprising, though the title pretty much gives it away that it is not really a 'happily ever after' story. I liked the ending but it might not be lapped up by some. The author has done a decent job of his first novel and his sincere efforts comes across on every page of this easily readable book. It's short (about 144 pages) and cute. Give it a try for your reading buds, especially if you fancy a light romance with an interesting ending.
It's a 3/5 from my side! Kunal will kill me for rating his book. Sorry Kunal but I couldnt stop myself from writing a review. For a first time author it is a pretty good book. I am eagerly waiting for his second book as I want to see how he evolves as a writer. Yes but some pointersWhy does the hero fall in love seeing only the beauty of the girl. She is a bitch at heart and even he knows it.How come it is only Rahul's car which has to hit the herione's husband's car?She was infidel even then why is she so sad and bla Kunal will kill me for rating his book.

Shreya is hot, sassy and materialistic girl which makes her completely opposite of Rahul. Rahul falls for Shreya and her hot looks (Unlike what Author has mentioned in his back cover ‘For Rahul looks are secondary, what matters is the soul.’)Rahul is a strong believer of destiny and knows that someday he will win Shreya’s love. He does every sacrifice to win his love.
Will Shreya realize Rahul’s love? Will Rahul be able to confess his love to Shreya? The book revolves around Rahul’s emotional voyages in a deep sea called as ‘Love’.Now the actual review. Starting with the book cover, which is really unique and interesting and catches reader’s attention quickly. The cover itself can be thought of as a first selling pitch for the book.Moving to the story, being the debut novel, author has done commendable job of gripping the reader’s attention till the end of the story. More stress is given to emotions (Rahul’s emotions to be specific) rather than story. The emotional side of a person in love is well explained and executed, which can be the plus point for the book.
Although, I would have loved if author would have used more dialogues to make the book more interesting. The dialogues fall flat and the conversation ends quickly keeping the reader asking for more. The characters are well executed and given proper justice. But even after reading the entire book ‘Shreya’s’ character is still a mystery for me. I wish author would have slipped in her mind often more to explain what actually she felt for Rahul. The book is series of events put together to make a story.
The story ends on interesting note and quite different from the traditional love stories. If I give away the ending, the interesting part of the story would be revealed. So, I will leave the ending to readers to read it and enjoy the suspense.Overall, the book is different, interesting and worth reading. I enjoyed reading this book. The ending has a surprising twist and gives different meaning to the book. It’s an easy and short read which can be finished in a day or on weekend. So, I would love to call this as ‘Week end read’.
Recommended to all those who ever fell in ‘Love’ and are looking for quick read. A good cover design.
The first reason to pick up this book. But the small font really pissed me off. I read for minutes and I am still on the same page. Thats the worst when it comes to a book.Coming to the first half of the story. The first of the story deserved a 0 outta 5 stars. I was 50 pages down and all I could make out was,1. Rahul got a job.2.
There were 100 PCs in his workplace.3. There is a girl he love who sits beside himDamn, everything was so detailed and repeated that A good cover design.

There were 100 PCs in his workplace.3. There is a girl he love who sits beside himDamn, everything was so detailed and repeated that there is no need for you to read the whole paragraph. Just read the first few words and you will understand the whole parah, which has nothing to convey at all.The second half was a bit fast paced compared to the first. The only part when I felt as a reader was the last 20 - 30 pages. The prologue seemed so interesting, but when you are done reaing the whole story, you feel it is not worth the time spent reading it.A pure waste of time!!!
